Comic Book movies are the craze these days, in a group I currently associate with they say "comic book movies WILL die out because the want for them will diminish." How totally disagree with that statement. I've been reading comic books since 1984 and when that time came for a hardcore comic book movie to drop I thought to myself a new age of movies and technology will overthrow the box office... I was not wrong... But when you look at nonsense like The Fantastic Four (1994) it almost throws away your optimism.
The Human Torch showed up at movies end as a cartoon!!! haha!
When Blade was released in 1998 it opened up a new and fresh outlook on comic books. Blade went on to release 2 more films. X-Men came next, Spider-Man and then Daredevil, thats just naming a few Marvel movies. We then get into other comic book releases like DC's Batman Begins which restarted Batman with Christian Bale as the Dark Knight and what about Hellboy 1 & 2, Sin City & Timecop...
Now, in 2013 we've seen CGI and creativity go to the next level, whether the movies good or bad. Over the last six years we've seen Wolverine... TWICE, X-Men: First Class, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Thor & Captain America. We even got to see The World's Mightiest Heroes on one screen. Superman or The Man of Steel returned this year with more action than ever, don't mind the fact that Supes killed Zod or for that matter, thousands of people in Metropolis, the sequel has already been announced and Batman will be in it.
The point to this post is back in the 80's did you think you would see what you see today on the big screen? Did you think that The Transformers would be going on number 4?? Did you expect the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to return to the big screen? Did you even know that both Transformers and TMNT were comic book titles? Or Cowboys & Aliens, what about 300, did you know that?
300: Rise of an Empire releases in 2014
Wanted, such a horrible movie, but had to be one of the best comic books ever to release...
If you have not seen the movie, don't, just read the book.
Lastly, did you know 2 Guns was a comic book?
A DEA agent and a naval intelligence officer find themselves on the run after a botched attempt to infiltrate a drug cartel. While fleeing, they learn the secret of their shaky alliance: Neither knew that the other was an undercover agent. Starring Denzel Washington & Mark Wahlberg. When people say that comic book movies will die I laugh, because there are too many books on the shelf that could be turned live-action. This is not like the Western movie era, much different. Technology is different, there are more writers and more comics to be made everyday, the people won't lose interest because there is always something new and exciting coming. For those of you that don't agree with this, ask yourself this question, Do all comic book movies have to have hundreds dying and people with super powers? If you answered Yes, then my friend, you are a idiot... lol
