Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

S.H.I.E.L.D

Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate

In the Marvel Studios Universe S.H.I.E.L.D stands for:
Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement & Logistics Division

To me the first is better. In the Marvel-616 Universe, Agent Phillip Coulson was recruited by Nick Fury. He joined S.H.I.E.L.D's version of the Avengers and was responsible for the recruitment of it's first members.
In the Marvel Studios Universe-199999, he is the right hand man to Nick Fury and a special agent to S.H.I.E.L.D. Not much else was explained about Agent Coulson from there.

Clark Gregg's portrayal of Agent Coulson on most of the Marvel Studios films and the Ultimate Spider-Man series kind of makes him the most recognizable character in the Marvel Universe. I would say in a room of 10 people, 8 of those people will have Agent Coulson as a wanted character on their list. I mean, were you pissed when Loki put the blade through his back???

Coming soon to abc, Marvel Studios & Joss Whedon are bringing the first live-action spin-off to the television. Starring Clark Gregg, reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson. Now I know what most of you may be thinking... How can Coulson be on this show? There could be a few answers to this question.
1. It may be a prequel, whereas the tv series took place before and during the Avengers film.
2. Nick Fury, whom you all know as "THE SPY" faked Agent Coulson's death to unite the team. His sacrifice would help the team defeat Loki & the Chitauri.
& Lastly, 3. Joss Whedon does not give a damn about any of that and just decided just to give Coulson his own spin-off. Knowing Joss Whedon's history, I doubt he would do that.

Twitter is running a #Coulsonlives promo to push the show, I would check it out. Aside from Agent Coulson other S.H.I.E.L.D Agents include:
1. Agent Grant Ward - No comic book affiliation, high tempered, but very calm and collected in sticky situations.
2. Melinda May - No comic book affiliation, The quiet pilot/veteren.
3. Agent Leo Fitz - No comic book affiliation, Nerdy weapons tech.
4. Agent Jemma Simmons - No comic book affiliation, the attractive nerd.

Using Disney to their advantage, Marvel is gearing up to bring the viewer live-action supremacy. I'm a bit biased to Agent Coulson, he died in Avengers, it has to make sense when they reintroduce him. Even though the new agents are made up, that's totally fine because it opens up a gateway to comic books, which is the base anyway. correct?

I know Mr. Whedon wishes he could have Fantastic Four or the X-Men right now. If only they could rescue them from the hellhole that is FOX. Just imagine the possibilities. A Reed Richards or Wolverine storyline without even seeing the characters, but see the events they were involved in and the characters that they affected.

From trailers and interviews it looks to me as if Luke Cage is a early featured character, a young black man from the hood (lower class housing) arrested for a crime he didn't commit. He obtained powers in an accident that left him with nearly impervious skin and superhuman strength. The question goes to the fan, who do you think will appear on Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.?

Before you make your decisions keep one thing in mind, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and my favorite Green Goliath, Hulk will NOT be in this show, I'm sure they will be mentioned. I'm sure this show will not be a bust and I am looking forward to it. The characters that seemed to fit the mold to me were:

Jennifer Walters - Cousin of Bruce Banner. Was badly injured and had to receive a emergency blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce.

The Leader - Born Samuel Sterns, he was moving canisters of waste
material when one of the containers cracked open bathing him in
gamma radiation. In the Incredible Hulk movie Sterns gamma
accident took place during the final battle sequence.

Marc Spector - Professional boxer, U.S. Marine & mercenary.

Carol Danvers - Celebrated Air Force pilot recruited by Spec-Ops and trained as a spy. She later met with a character by the name of Mar-Vell.

These are just a few characters I think could be included in the show. You can't go over the top and I think that is why Whedon accepted the task. I do think that the introduction of Wakanda comes in this show. That place in Africa will most certainly bring about the African Legend T'Challa aka Black Panther, and eventhough he may not appear in the show, to see his back or his mask would be outstanding.

Who are you looking forward to seeing?
